Family: Mustelidae

Includes badgers, otters, skunks and weasels. These animals all have long canines and sharp carnassial teeth. They are small to medium sized with short snouts and small round ears. Their legs are rather short compared to their body length, and they have five clawed toes per foot. They also possess a rather pungent anal scent gland, which some species use as a defense. Most are fierce, quick, agile predators. -- Text by: Georgia Department of Natural Resources
