Homo Sapiens

Modern humans, emerged during the Pleistocene epoch. The date of the transition from the Pliocene to the Pleistocene is an subjective point in time, and paleontologists have not found it unproblematic to agree on its definition. Until recently the generally accepted date was about 2.5 million years ago, but more now the date of 1.6 million years ago has been adopted by the majority of scientists.
