Family: Canidae -- dogs, foxes, jackals and wolves  - A Stan Klos Website

Family: Canidae

The Canidae Family includes dogs, foxes, jackals and wolves which are medium sized large ear and long bushy tail mammals. Their muzzles are elongated with elongated powerful canines and pointed molars. Their legs are long, slim and well adapted for sprinting. Most canidae have five toes on the front feet and four on the rear. They rely more on their senses of hearing and smell than sight when stalking prey. They are clever mammals and adapt their behavior to their environment.
