In hope of forcing the British to leave New England and defend Canada, General Richard Montgomery led a group of patriots in an attack on Montreal.
Successful in Montreal, Montgomery teamed with Benedict Arnold on an attack of Quebec. General Montgomery was killed and Arnold was wounded forcing a retreat back to the United States.
