Egyptian Sphinx

The Great Sphinx stands near the Pyramids of Giza and is about 50 meters long and over 20 meters high.  It is carved almost entirely from natural bedrock.  The age and purpose of the Sphinx are the subject of on ongoing debate.  The Sphinx lies at the base of the causeway that leads to Khafre's Pyramid.
