Dilophosaurus
('two-ridged reptile')
Early Jurassic.
Discovered 1942 in Northern Arizona by University of California expedition.
Described by Dr. Sam Welles in 1954.
20 ft (6m) in length.
Long slender teeth used for tearing not biting.
Long powerful hind legs.
Crest on head made from two thin ridges of bone side by side, like half dinner plates set up on end.
