Order: Sirenia

Dugongs  and manatees first appeared in the Middle Eocene Period and are currently found in Africa, Asia, North and South America.  The rear limbs are lacking, pelvis vestigial, the front limbs have been modified into flippers.  The   tail is flattened and expanded reaching a total length to 450 cm (177 in.).
