Caoxueqin

Grand View Garden

The Grand View Garden was built like the villa in the classical novel "Dreams of the Red Mansion" written by Caoxueqin in Ming Dynasty. The book, which counts over 1000 pages, tells a thespian love story between "Lindaiyu and Jiabaoyu" that happened in a royal family under the feudality. The story, divided in 120 chapters, tells about blossoming love and joy, right through to the sad events that bring down the whole family. It is well known as the eastern "Romeo & Juliet" ...

There are many intriguing attractions in the Garden like "Xiaoxiang Guan" as daiyu's residence with so many green bamboos which reminds of the sorrows... and "Yihong Yuan", baoyu's rooms... Each independent structure in the garden fits the characters of a particular figure in the story. Each structure is a different view. And through each view, one may catch a glimpse of a particular character in the classic story. It is another antique garden which represents Ming architectures and decorations and it is indeed a garden of grand views.
