Samuel Abbot

ABBOT, Samuel, inventor, born in Wilton, New Hampshire, 30 March, 1786" died there, 2 January 1839. He was graduated at Harvard in 1808, studied law, and practiced his profession, first at Dunstable and then at Ipswich, Massachusetts. He was the inventor of a process by which starch is made from the potato, and was burned to death in his factory.
