In 415 BC he was accused
of having taken part in the mutilation of Herms, 411 he helped the fleet in
Samos to win return to Athens and imprisoned on his return. He
returned home after amnesty and in 399 BC was attacked by Callias for
profaning mysteries. He then held religious festival posts 392/1 and was
later sent to Sparta to negotiate peace. Andocides went into exile when
prosecuted following the rejection of the peace.
