Internationally known lawyer; Chancellor of the State; charter member of the American Bar Association and its president in 1901; authored the "Arkansas Constitution" and the "Digest of Arkansas Reports"; appointed Ambassador to the Peace Congress of The Hague by Theodore Roosevelt in 1907.
