Eliot Ness

In the Chicago of the late twenties, Eliot Ness  was assigned to harass Al Capone's gang as much as he could. Constructing a squad of about ten men, carefully selected after an extensive screening, he set out on his task with vigor. Whenever his squad planned to raid one of Capone's stills, breweries, or speakeasies, he made sure that there was at least one newspaper man present to document the event. Contrary to popular belief, Ness and Capone never met, nor was it Ness   who finally gathered enough evidence to get Capone behind bars. The nickname "The Untouchables" was given to Ness' squad by Capone's men because theirs effort to bribe Ness and his men failed. Although Ness' efforts did little to destroy Capone's empire, his perseverance in battling Capone assured him of a place among the legends of organized crime.
