Hunkpapa Sioux Leader and Medicine Man

Born in 1831 to the Hunkpapa group of the Lakota people in south Dakota. Died in 1890 followers tried to rescue him from the reservation police. Defeated George Custer and the Seventh Cavalry Division at Little Bighorn. Custer was attempting to protect trespassing white gold miners in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
